| Goals
for Your Art
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This is the second installment in the Marketing
information, but deals more with believing in what you
want. And to do this I need to tell you a story.
Drawing and painting were always just a hobby when
I was younger. Then when I was 24, I walked into a
shopping mall where many artists were sitting with
their artwork. This had a huge impact on my world, and
a voice inside me said "I want this". I
didn't know how, but I was going to find out. So I
joined this art group and learned more about painting,
shows and selling paintings at the mall.
But as I learned more about the art world, the
little voice kept getting louder. Asking how do some
artists become nationally known? I would dream about
it happening to me, even while painting I would
visualize what I thought it would be like with the
traveling, having gallery shows, and selling paintings
all over the United States, and it came true, beyond
my wildest dreams. My full story is on my web site at My
Journey As An Artist
So decide what you want from your art or life. The
more you visualize about it, the more opportunities
will come to you. I have been doing this since the
early 70's and there are times when I re-define my
goals and focus my thoughts and energy toward that
goal.
How do you set your path toward your goal?
Watercolor
Corner
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This demo painting was a lot of fun to paint. So I
thought I would tell you the colors I have used in
this painting.
The background was Antwerp Blue, Perm. Alizarin
Crimson, and a little bit of Hookers Green, and I
always do my backgrounds first, so that I know what
hue the silver will take on with the reflections of
the background. The tulips I used Permanent Rose,
Perm. Alizarin Crimson and Antwerp Blue. For the
silver I used Ultra. Blue (green shade), Burnt Sienna,
Permanent Rose.
Art Tip: Painting silver or anything shinny,
glazing in single colors to show the reflected colors
that are in the other objects of the painting add
interest to the silver and is part of what makes it so
much fun to paint. So the additional colors that were
glazed on the silver were Burnt Sienna, Hookers Green,
Antwerp Blue.
If you would like to follow along with me on a
silver painting lesson. I have a watercolor dvd that
comes with a drawing that you may trace and learn how
to paint silver, just click the watercolor dvd link
