"A Proper Time For Tea" 24 x 68 Oil on Canvas
At the Mad Hatter's table, it is always exactly six o'clock tea time, of course. Quite a party it is, with spirals of red streamers,
confetti, half-eaten tarts, and a spilled cup of tea before us. The painting presents a conundrum of a perpetual party at a proper time,
imparting a timelessness to this beautiful mess. Even the teapot is suspended, like some sort of Victorian hovercraft. The centerpiece
grounds the work, with a plethora of blooms of every color . . . one imagines that the Mad Hatter himself might have had a hand in arranging it.
The eye circulates in arcs of whimsy to take in the gaiety of this party, as we await an invitation to join in the merriment.
